Midtown at Bonita Breaks Ground, Promises New Hub for Bonita Springs
A major new development is officially underway in Bonita Springs. Midtown at Bonita, a 68-acre mixed-use project, broke ground on Thursday, aiming to transform one of the city’s fastest-growing areas east of I-75.
City officials, developers, and community leaders gathered at the site on Bonita Beach Road to mark the start of construction. While crews are already working on the site, the ceremony served as a celebration of the project’s official launch.
The development will feature a mix of restaurants, retail shops, and residences, along with more than 30 acres of preserved open green space. According to developers, the goal is to create a walkable community where people can live, work, and dine without always needing to get in their car.
Midtown rises as Bonita Springs growth shifts east
The planned community Midtown at Bonita promises to create a central commercial hub to complement the surge of condominium developments continuing to take shape in southeastern Bonita Springs.
“It’s a much-needed project on this side of town,” Bonita Springs Mayor Mike Gibson said.
Midtown developer The Zuckerman Group joined city officials and other stakeholders to celebrate as construction progressed Nov. 6. Work was already well underway, with townhome shells rising and the first hints of a main street-style entertainment district emerging.
Midtown comes to Bonita Springs
Bonita Springs city officials, developers, and community leaders gathered for the groundbreaking of Midtown at Bonita. The development is a transformative 68-acre mixed-use destination set to redefine how Southwest Florida lives, dines, shops and connects.
Strategically located a quarter mile east of I-75 on Bonita Beach Road, developers plan for Midtown at Bonita to become the beating heart of the region, a place where neighbors and visitors can gather, dine and celebrate life’s everyday moments.
Midtown at Bonita Springs is to fully embrace pedestrian-friendly walkability and the preservation with more than 30 acres of open space. Sprawling over 68 acres, the mixed-use community will include retail, residences, restaurants, fitness, lakes, proposed office space and more. It will serve as the social center for Southwest Florida.
